Hill Top Farm is a working 178 acre mixed farm providing a unique learning environment that seeks to meet the needs of students with emotional, social and behavioural difficulties. Our curriculum, personalised to each student's individual needs, uses this therapeutic setting to offer a wide scope of alternative learning opportunities. We offer a broad range of vocational and academic subjects on a full or part-time basis, including Land Based Studies where students have the opportunity to gain qualifications in agriculture, equine studies or horticulture.
Our students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, often having experienced traumatic pasts or simply having struggled and experienced a sense of failure in mainstream education. Each pupil has a personalised therapeutic learning programme, which is underpinned by the philosophy of the human givens approach. Human givens therapy focuses on helping pupils to identify unmet emotional needs and empowering them to meet these needs by activating their own natural resources in new ways. We guide our students towards their strengths, planning skill requirements for the future looking beyond learning and into work and, ultimately, providing them with the resources to live independent fulfilling lives.
We pride ourselves on the relationships we form with each individual student. The school has a very high attendance rate and successfully reintegrates the majority of its students into further education or into the workplace.
